Because of the available genomic information and genetic operation techniques for both rice and the fungal pathogen, the rice blast pathosystem has become an ideal system for the analyzing of R genes-Avr genes mediated disease resistance in crops. I am focusing on dissecting the Piz-t-based defense signaling pathway in rice and propose to conduct a screen analysis of Piz-t associated proteins, and to further identify their role in the Piz-t mediated broad-resistance to rice blast.
