Undergraduate Research Experience

Summer Research Opportunity Program, Michigan State University (2021)

• Working with Dr. Jade Mitchell lab in “Fitting Novel Dose-Response Models Used in QMRA to Crops Challenged with Pythium spp.” to be published.
• Utilized R Studio with biometric and epidemiology applications to mine data and run dose-response model
• Gave weekly research presentations

Lab Technician and Author- Phytopathology Lab Research, University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez (2021)

• Worked with Dr. Lydia Rivera Vargas on fungal disease in mangos
•  In preparation: Lasmenia spp., a pathogenic fungus on leaves and fruits of Mangifera indica"
• Processed a pathology test in mango leaves on the Lasmenia spp. fungi discovered by the graduate student Alexis Quimbita, made its DNA extraction and sequence of the fungi, and studied the patterns of mycelial growth

Encouraging Careers in Food Security and Safety (ECaFSS) internship
Phytopathology Lab Research, Mayaguez Puerto Rico (Summer 2020- Fall 2020)

• The internship goal is to motivate students to study in food security
• Supported the research investigation of post-graduate student in “Descendent death of mangoes by the fungi Botryosphaeriaceae after Hurricane Maria.”
• Participated in seminars about research and thesis writing

Field Technician – Sabana Research Station “El Yunque” Rainforest, Rio Grande Puerto Rico (2018)

• Supported the research investigation of post- graduate student in a Functional Ecology Study to compare the trees of volcanic soil vs. trees serpentine soils
• Processed the sample test and identify the specimen’s used in the test
• Supported the rain forest field technician during the daily zone recognition
