Fun in Beijing!

From the CFAES Student Blog > Study Abroad

Elizabeth Roche, Plant Pathology major

For May session, I studied abroad in Beijing, China. The focus was on food security and production. Each week there was a new area that we learned about: food science, plant pathology, dairy production, and food safety.

We had the opportunity to go on a lot of field trips to see different foods and products in production. My favorite was to see how soy sauce was made!

On the weekends, we visited different cultural sites, including the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, and Olympic Park. A few of us went to the waterpark inside the Watercube, which was extremely fun! They had lots of crazy slides, and we saw where Michael Phelps swam!

Overall, China was a great trip, and everyone learned a lot!  Maybe I’ll get to visit Beijing again sometime in the future!
