The mission of The Ohio State University, College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, Department of Plant Pathology Academic Programs (in facilitating and mentoring the learning process) is to:
- Provide a superior scholarly education to students including a strong foundation in the sciences, with an emphasis in plant pathology and plant health management;

The mission of the Master in Plant Health Management is to provide advanced knowledge, practical training and specialized skills needed to meet current and future workforce needs in plant health management.
The mission of the Major in Plant Pathology is to prepare students for advanced studies and professional careers by building a solid foundation in plant pathology and the sciences, and enabling students to develop leadership and workforce skills.
The mission of the Major in Plant Health Management is to prepare students for careers in plant health management by providing integrated studies in plant pathology, entomology and related disciplines, and enabling students to develop leadership and workforce skills
The mission of the Minor in Plant Pathology is to provide students with a strong base knowledge of plant pathology and plant health management to augment their professional goals.
