(Plnt Pth 830) Current Topics in Plant Pathology (G   1-2 cr)

Spring 2009 - Current Topics in Plant-Bacteria Interactions.  2 credits.   Time/days: TBD.  Also offered under H&CS 830.  The study of plant and pathogen interactions is an exciting and fast moving field. This course will focus on the regulation of bacterial virulence factors, their delivery to plants, and their mode of action inside plant cells. Properly controlled expression of an appropriate set of virulence factors is key to determining whether or not potentially pathogenic bacteria cause disease on a particular host. The course will cover recent publications using a "journal club" format, where students will summarize a journal article for the class. The results and implications of these reports will be discussed in depth. Contact: D. Coplin (coplin.3@osu.edu) or D. Mackey (mackey.86@osu.edu)
