A broad awareness course on the bioterrorism threat to our food supply, crops, animal and public health, and bioterrorist organizations. Wi quarter. Prerequ: Jr. or Sr. standing. (PLNTPTH 489) Internship Experiences in Plant Health Management (U  1-5 cr)

Conducting and reporting the honors project.  Su, Au, Wi, Sp quarters.  Prerequ: AGR H590.01, enrollment in honors program, and permission of honors project supervisor.  Repeatable to a maximum of 10 credit hours.  Hours repeatable as H683 or in combination with 293, 593, H593, H599, 693 or H693.  This course is graded S/U.

Special topics in the Biological Control of Plant Pathogens (Grad, 2 cr)


The course will be a mix of approx. half lecture (key principles and paradigms), and half discussion (recent intriguing and transformational research articles in the field).  2 hours each week.  Offered by videolink between Columbus and Wooster.

Recommended prerequisite: PLNTPTH 602 (Plant-Microbe Interactions) but others are welcome.  Day/time and schedule will be established by Brian McSpadden Gardener and the enrolled students.

(PLNTPTH 842) Biochemistry of Plant Responses to Infection  (G   3 cr) 
Introduction to the molecular and genetic basis of plant responses to microbial infection and symbiosis.  Wi quarter.  Prerequ: Biochem 511 and 521 or equivalent; one 600-level course in plant physiology or plant biochemistry; or written permission of the instructor.  Biochem 631 or Plant Bio 630 or 631 recommended.  Offered every other year.  Winter 2010.  Contact: T. Students work with faculty mentors to gain intensive hands-on and mentored experiences focused on direct interactions with students and on the scholarly aspects of teaching.  Su, Au, Wi, Sp quarters.  Prerequ: Grad standing and completion of the OSU FTAD University-wide orientation on Teaching and Learning.  Agr Educ 135 and Edu P&L 851.  Repeatable to a maximum of 10 credits.  This course is graded S/U.
