Honors Program
Outstanding students may choose to pursue the prestigious Honors Program at Ohio State. This program recognizes academic achievement and offers flexibility in course selection; enrollment in honors, accelerated, or advanced courses; and research experience in an honors project. The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences offers an Undergraduate Honors Program, and an Undergraduate and Graduate Combined Honors Program (BS/MS).

May 13, 2009 - Laura Bruner, Plant Health Management Honors student, won a third place award in the Agricultural/Environmental Science division of the Denman Undegraduate Research Forum for her honors thesis, "The study of Arabidopsis thaliana trichomes for source of chemical defense." Bruner also won first place in the CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum, Environmental and Plant Sciences Division for her research. |

2009 - Kara Riggs was awarded a University Undergraduate Research Scholarship and an OARDC Director's Undergraduate Research Grant. She is an Honors student engaged in research in Dr. Terry Graham's laboratory. |

2008-2009 - Nick Weidenennber, Plant Health Management Honors student, was selected to receive the William F. Helms Student Scholarship from the USDA APHIS Plant Protection and Quarantine Program (PPQ). Weidenbenner received a $5000 scholarship and a work experience internship at the USDA APHIS PPQ office in Pickerington, Ohio. |

2008 - Amanda Hayes was one of five Denman Undergraduate Forum presenters selected for a one-week Brazil Research Exchange Program this fall. Amanda, a Plant Health Management Honors student, traveled to São Paulo, Brazil in to present her research poster, "Greenhouse sanitation: Efficacy of disinfectants on cutting blades using Tobacco mosaic virus on petunia as a model." Dennis Lewandowski is her honors thesis advisor. |

Robert Beaulieu was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and honored as one of Ohio State's top graduates in June 2008. In the fall, he traveled abroad to study with Jose Pascual, Centro de Edafología y Biología Aplicasa del Segura, Murcia, Spain. Robbie, who graduated in June with a BA in Comparative Studies, magna cum laude with honors, completed an honors thesis with Mike Boehm. Robbie was part of the "Top of the Class" splash feature on the OSU website.
Congratulations to Plant Pathology presenters at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum, May 14, 2008 on the Ohio State Columbus campus. This is Ohio State's showcase for undergraduate research. Over 400 students presented research in 11 categories. Amanda Hayes was one of five presenters selected to participate in a one-week Brazil Research Exchange Program in November.
