General Plant Pathology (5 cr)

An introduction to diseases of plants.  This course is a prerequisite for advanced courses in plant disease management, turf diseases, ornamental diseases, mycology, and other courses offered in the department.

What is plant pathology?  Why study plant diseases?

By the end of the course, you'll have solid answers to these questions and should be able to:

  • Apply terminology used by plant pathologists and those interested in plant health
  • Diagnose plant diseases and disorders
  • Design and implement environmentally-sound disease management strategies
  • Prove pathogenicity using Koch's postulates
  • Reflect upon the importance plant diseases have on society
