     The Department of Plant Pathology had much to celebrate in 2008.  Honors and awards.  Student accomplishments.  The American Phytopathological Society Centennial Meeting.   These pages highlight noteworthy accomplishments as we recognize continued excellence in Research, Teaching and Extension.

     We begin with recognition on an international stage.  Laurence V. Madden received the prestigious Jakob Eriksson Prize in Plant Pathology.  This award, which is presented every five years, recognizes Madden's seminal research contributions in plant epidemiology.  Madden was also named Distinguished Professor of Plant Protection at The Ohio State University, and was the 2008 Fisher Lecturer at the Rothamsted Research, a world leading center on arable crops in Harpenden, United Kingdom.
