Application Procedures
Graduate applications to the The Ohio State University are processed by the Graduate Admissions Office. Below is a summary of the applications materials for the Plant Pathology Graduate Program (MS and PhD). Note that application materials are submitted to two different university offices: 1) the Graduate Admissions Office and 2) Department of Plant Pathology.

APPLYING TO OHIO STATE AND THE
PLANT PATHOLOGY GRADUATE PROGRAM
The Department of Plant Pathology accepts applications throughout the year. However, most decisions regarding admission and financial support (research associateships, fellowships, etc.) are made between January and March for the following September. For admission in Autumn 2010, to receive full consideration of financial support, international students should apply by November 30, 2009, and domestic students shoud apply in December 2009 or at the latest January 15, 2010.

One original copy of transcripts or record of marks for each university-level school attended. Include English translation of each of any foreign documents.
___ Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test
Official scores for the GRE General Test should be sent to institutional code 1592.
Plant Pathology does not have a department code and does not require a subject test. As a guideline, the Plant Pathology Graduate Program looks for a minimum combined GRE score of 1160 for the Verbal + Quantitative portions of the exam, and a score of 4.0 or greater on the Analytical Writing portion (however, this is a guideline and not an absolute minimum score requirement for admission).
____ English Proficiency
Applicants whose native language is not English, must submit a recent, official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score. ___ Statement of Intent
A 1-2 page statement describing your academic goals, professional interests, as well as relevant work, research and academic experience. It may be helpful to include autobiographical or other information as it relates to your motivations and interests in pursuing graduate study in plant pathology at Ohio State.
___ Curriculum Vitae/Resume
A 1-2 page document detailing your previous work and educational experience, academic and professional activities and honors, publications and other relevant information.
___ ___ ___ Three Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation from professional references familiar with your qualifications and potential for graduate study.
Letters may be submitted online through the Graduate Admissions website, or paper copies written on recommenders' original letterhead stationery may be mailed to the Department of Plant Pathology. Paper copies should be accompanied by completed Ohio State Reference Forms available online:
