Applied studies are aimed at developing improved procedures for diagnosis and control of several fungal diseases and in implementing the use of mycorrhizal (beneficial) fungi for improving alfalfa nutrition and yield. Basic studies are directed toward the ecology and physiology of mycorrhizal and phytopathogenic fungi. Dr. Rhodes is also a State Extension Specialist in the area of forage crop pathology.
