Teaching, Research and Extension Responsibilities (31% Teaching: 43% Research: 26% Extension)
My research focuses on turfgrass pathology, with an emphasis on Sclerotinia homoeocarpa, the causal agent of dollar spot. I am also involved in collaborative research on Fusarium head blight (scab) of wheat. I provide leadership for Ohio State's Extension turfgrass pathology program, focusing on the needs of the turf industry.
I teach Bioterrorism: An overview (Plant Pathology/ International Studies 455); Turfgrass Pathology (Plant Pathology 612); and Integrated Turfgrass Health and Pest Management (Plant Pathology 613). I provide guest lectures in other courses and advise undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
I participate on various university committees and am an active member of the American Phytopathological Society (APS) where I serve as the Junior Councilor-at-Large and other committees and strategic planning boards.
I serve as Chair of the department and as such provide leadership for all facets of the department.
