09/08/08 - 09/19/08 - An International Short Course Pest and Disease Diagnostics for International Trade and Food Security
The Ohio State University, Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, Wooster, Ohio
Nine participants from Africa, Russia and South America participated in a lab-based short course that provided intensive training in classical and modern plant disease and insect pest diagnostics. The course also provided training in data management and Sanitary/Phytosanitary (SPS) issues that affect international trade. 06/26/08 - The Andersons, Inc., in collaboration with the Ohio BioProducts Innovation Center et al., was awarded a $5 million State of Ohio Third Frontier grant to develop advanced granule technology for delivery and application of chemicals to turfgrass, landscape and agricultural crops. Ohio State researchers involved in the project include: Michael Boehm (Plant Pathology), Erdal Ozkan (Agricultural and Biol. Engineering), Dave Gardner, Hannah Mathers, Claudio Pasian, Mark Loux and Mark Bennett (Horticulture & Crop Science), Nick Basta (Environmental and Natural Resources) and Dave Shetlar (Entomology).
