Annemarie Nagle, M.S. student in the Bonello lab, was awarded first place and $500 in the MS Graduate Student Poster Competition at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) Annual Research Conference on April 23 in Columbus, Ohio. Nagle presented, “Potential Association of Phytophthora cinnamomi with White Oak Decline in Southern Ohio." The program recognizes outstanding graduate work in OARDC-supported research. |

Nick Weidenennber, Plant Health Management Honors student, was awarded a William F. Helms Student Scholarship from the USDA APHIS Plant Protection and Quarantine Program (PPQ). Weidenbenner received a $5000 scholarship and a work experience internship at the USDA APHIS PPQ office in Pickerington, Ohio. Nick graduated in June 2009 with a B.S. Magna Cum Laude, Agriculture/Plant Health Management with *Distinction in Plant Health Management. Honors thesis research investigated chemical mechanisms of defense in response to emerald ash borer in susceptible white ash (Fraxinus americana) and resistant Manchurian Ash (Fraxinus mandshurica). Nathan Kleczewski and Miguel Vega Sanchez were named 2008 recipients of the C.C. Allison Award, in recognition of high achievement in graduate research and service to the Department of Plant Pathology. The awards were announced at the Plant Pathology seminar on May 27, which was also Miguel's PhD exit seminar.
